Leonard Fournette remains unsigned even after the initial rush on NFL free agents, and he may have offered a hint as to why on Friday.
Fournette tweeted about his free agency on Friday, suggesting that he was not bothered if it would take time for him to find a new team. The running back added, however, that he saw himself as a “top 5 back” and suggested he would be willing to wait for what he sees as a fair offer.
I know what I want it’s going to take time but I also believe for these last 2 years I’ve played like a top 5 back, so I’m just trusting God and enjoying this time grinding and with my family………..

Fournette had hinted that he was likely to leave the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, though seemingly backtracked slightly on that more recently. If he is demanding a significant contract, there’s no chance the Buccaneers would be able to afford him.
Fournette proved his worth as a solid pass-catching backfield option who can also handle a steady workload, collecting 10 total touchdowns and 1,266 yards from scrimmage in 2021. Whether or not that is sufficient to get what he feels he deserves remains to be seen.
