Le’Veon Bell took to Twitter Friday to finally bid a fond farewell to the city of Pittsburgh and Steelers fans. In the tweet, the running back thanked the fans for all their support over the years and the “amazing ride.”
Bell officially became a former Steeler on March 13 when he signed a four-year, $52.5 million contract with the New York Jets, and the timing of the tweet from Bell was inspired by a message from the Steeler Nation Twitter account.
100% with you! I have nothing but love for the people of Pittsburgh & Steeler Nation, & I MEAN THAT! I can’t forget how you embraced me from when I first stepped foot in Pittsburgh in ‘13 til my last play in Jan ‘18. It was an amazing ride, I’ll always have love for the fans https://t.co/rsYfRjUlTd

There certainly appeared to be no love lost between Bell and his teammates, not to mention the Steelers organization, thanks to his protracted holdout drama.
Steelers fans presumably felt the same away over Bell spurning the team and sitting out the entire the 2018 season amid protracted contract negotiations that obviously proved less than fruitful. Still, it's clear Bell appreciated the fans’ support when times were better.
Interestingly, as fate would have it, Bell will get to face his former team when the Jets host the Steelers at MetLife Stadium on Dec. 22 in a Week 16 showdown. Bell made note of the matchup on Twitter this week, and odds are all parties involved have circled that date on their calendars.
