Notre Dame has picked up its second commitment of the week, but this time it is from the 2026 recruiting class. The Fighting Irish landed a commitment from Mathews (N.C.) Weddington linebacker Thomas Davis Jr.
Davis made his third trip to Notre Dame this weekend to watch the Irish dismantle Florida State. Notre Dame had been trending in a great direction with Davis for some time, but after his most recent trip he decided its time to make it official and join the Irish 2026 recruiting class.
The Weddington standout is considered one of the top linebackers in the 2026 class. He is ranked as the No. 113 overall player in the country by 247Sports, he's ranked No. 119 overall by Rivals and he's ranked No. 126 overall by ESPN. He's ranked as a Top 10 linebacker by all three recruiting services.
Davis is the son of former NFL standout linebacker Thomas Davis, who was a star at the University of Georgia as well. The younger Davis is 6-2 and 220 pounds. He is a high football IQ player that shows the foot quickness, power and range to be productive linebacker at the next level.
Davis is the third player to commit to Notre Dame in the 2026 class. He joins a class that has talented Lake Mary (Fla.) High School quarterback Noah Grubbs and Boca Raton (Fla.) St. Andrew's wide receiver Dylan Faison.
Davis earned offers from the Irish, Ohio State, Clemson, Michigan, Ole Miss, LSU, Penn State, Tennessee, Miami (Fla.), Auburn, North Carolina, South Carolina, Wisconsin, NC State, Georgia Tech, UCLA, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Indiana and Boston College.
