The Detroit Lions’ playoff hopes are fading after another loss on Sunday to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The franchise now has an 8–7 record and their chances of making the NFL postseason remain slim.
Detroit battled back and had a chance to win the game on the final play, but wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was flagged for offensive pass interference. The penalty wiped out what would have been a wild touchdown after St. Brown caught a pass and lateraled it to quarterback Jared Goff.
Despite the disappointing finish and the struggles of the season, it has still been another excellent year for St. Brown. The 26-year-old former USC standout has hauled in 98 receptions on 144 targets for 1,194 yards and 11 touchdowns.
He has now recorded his fourth straight 1,000-plus yard season, accomplishing the feat in just his fifth NFL campaign.
Unfortunately, the bad news has continued for the Lions. Detroit held only an estimated practice on Monday, meaning they projected the status of players even though no on-field work took place. Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was listed as a non-participant with a knee injury, immediately raising concern.
During his Monday press conference, Lions head coach Dan Campbell addressed the surprise addition of St. Brown to the injury report.
Campbell explained that the issue surfaced when St. Brown came in that morning, noting that he hopes it is just irritation but admitted the team will know more "a little bit later" (h/t Colton Pouncy of The Athletic).

Campbell said it's something that popped up when St. Brown came in today. Hoping it's just irritation from the game.
The timing of the injury is particularly troubling given how much the Lions rely on St. Brown as their offensive focal point. His route running, toughness and ability to make contested catches have been critical in keeping the passing game afloat.
Without him, Detroit’s offense would lean heavily on Jameson Williams and rookie wideout Isaac TeSlaa.
With only two games left in the regular season, the Lions need St. Brown healthy to have any chance of salvaging their postseason hopes.
His status will be one of the most closely watched storylines in Detroit this week, as the team prepares for a must-win stretch to keep their season alive.
