Lions Announce Unfortunate Update Ahead of Chiefs Game

Two-time All-Pro wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown failed to score in the Detroit Lions’ 37-24 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. However, the former USC Trojans star was able to register eight catches for a team-high 100 yards, helping his team improve to 4-1 on the season.

St. Brown, however, is now in danger of missing Detroit’s highly anticipated Week 6 matchup against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. This is after the Lions announced that the three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver is currently dealing with a wrist injury.

The Lions posted the Wednesday practice report on the team’s official website, and St. Brown’s addition to the list of injured players has stood out the most. The 25-year-old did not practice on Wednesday, which places his status for Sunday’s contest against the Chiefs in doubt.

The Lions have not provided the details of St. Brown’s wrist issue, so it is currently unclear when he sustained the injury. The silver lining, though, is that he still has two chances to practice (Thursday and Friday) before Detroit travels to Kansas City for its Week 6 matchup.

The Lions will monitor St. Brown’s situation closely in the coming days to determine whether or not he can suit up against the Chiefs. His potential absence in Sunday’s contest will serve as a significant blow for quarterback Jared Goff and the Lions’ passing game, especially against a Kansas City secondary that is capable of capitalizing on mistakes.

St. Brown is off to another strong start for Detroit in 2025. In five games played, the star wideout already has 35 receptions for 407 yards. St. Brown currently leads the league in receiving touchdowns with six.

Also listed in the Lions’ Wednesday practice report are cornerback Terrion Arnold (shoulder), linebacker Zach Cunningham (hamstring), tackle Taylor Decker (shoulder), safety Kerby Joseph (knee), wide receiver Kalif Raymond (neck) and running back Sione Vaki (groin), who all missed practice.

Defensive back Brian Branch (ankle) was limited, while defensive tackle Alim McNeill (knee) was listed as a full participant.
