The Detroit Lions got a steal in camp last year when they claimed running back Zonovan Knight after he was released by the New York Jets so they could make room for Dalvin Cook. A move they now no doubt regret.
Knight immediately became a strong contender for running back three and even started to get reps over Craig Reynolds early in the year when David Montgomery got hurt. Then Knight got hurt against the Falcons when he hurt his shoulder. He'll have another shot at that third spot next year as Bleacher Report is reporting that he has signed a new deal with the Lions.

So far Knight is ahead in the race for RB3 since the Lions have not worked out a deal with Craig Reynolds yet. We'll see if they decide to do that in due time. Even if they do, Knight has a very strong chance to take that job in camp this August.
Knight showed a lot of promise with the Jets in 2022 when they made him a starter down the stretch. He ran for 300 yards and a touchdown in four starts. One of those games was against the Lions.
