Lions get good news in latest offseason analysis

The Detroit Lions have a lot going on right now. They have a bevy of new draft picks who they're trying to get acclimated to the NFL life. They also have a star cornerback, Terrion Arnold, who was arrested on June 24 and is facing multiple felony charges, so there's plenty of uncertainty there. And, they're getting used to a new offensive coordinator, Drew Petzing.

Yes, it's a wild time for Dan Campbell and company. However, on a brighter note, one of their biggest rivals may be in a worse spot.

When it comes to the Lions' rivals in the NFC North, the biggest have always been the Green Bay Packers. Sure, now that Ben Johnson is at the Chicago Bears, that rivalry has heated up. But, traditionally, it's the Lions and Packers.

Lions' arch rival gets dismal projection from NFL expert

On Monday, Mike Jones of The Athletic named the Packers one of the least-improved teams of the offseason. That's music to the Lions' ears.

"For a team coming off back-to-back wild-card-round exits and that hasn't reached the conference championship game since the 2020 season, the Packers had a rather blah offseason," Jones wrote. "They lost top wide receiver Romeo Doubs, left tackle Rasheed Walker and linebacker Quay Walker, and they also saw cornerback Nate Hobbs and versatile offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins depart."

Jones added: "On top of that, they’re dealing with the uncertainty swirling around Josh Jacobs’ domestic violence charges."

So, yes, Jones believes that it's going to be a difficult season for the Packers. If that's the case, then it's only good news for the team's rivals, especially the Lions.
