Lions HC Dan Campbell Latest Victim of Cyber Crime following Week 17 Loss
Junfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK

The headlines this morning were full of the Detroit Lions and their head coach Dan Campbell after their controversial loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday Night.  Detroit had several opportunities to tie the game late as there were three replays due to penalties of a two-point conversion attempt following a Detroit touchdown that ultimately would fail, leading to a one-point win by Dallas.

Unfortunately for Campbell, things only got worse after the game.

Lions’ Head Coach Dan Campbell Victim of Cyber Crime on Sunday Morning

On Sunday Morning, Campbell was the victim of a cyber crime as his information was leaked to the public on Sunday morning.

NFL Insider Jay Glazer reported Sunday, “I actually talked to Dan Campbell this morning. First of all, the first point he said was, ‘Look, I have no choice to make sure my players just move on from this. We can’t just continue to be angry.’ What he was angry about this morning is somehow somebody gave his address out and sent a bunch of contractors to his house early in the morning to wake him up, so that they could fix his garage and his driveway. His front gate. Leave Dan Campbell alone, people.”

Previous Cyber Crime in the NFL

This comes several weeks after a pair of Cowboys players had their personal information leaked to the press.  Jayron Kearse and Juanyeh Thomas recently had their home addresses and phone numbers leaked following Dallas’ humiliating loss at the hands of the Buffalo Bills.  It is likely that the culprit behind both events is the same person as both acts were likely committed by Dallas fans given the situations triggering both events.

Dan Campbell’s Tenure as Detroit Head Coach

Campbell has become a controversial figure after he has established himself as one of the most emotional coaches in the league.  He started off his tenure in Detroit by saying his players will be tough and scrappy, even asserting that his players would bite the ankles of the opposition when they get knocked down.

Although that introduction to his head coaching tenure was a little unorthodox, I cannot deny that Campbell has been a phenomenal head coach as he has made the offseason moves establishing the team identity that he wanted.  Detroit has become one of the toughest teams in the league with elite offensive and defensive lines.

I can only imagine the poor contractor showing up at the Detroit household only to meet a furious Dan Campbell.  I would change my name and leave town after that sort of embarrassment.
