The Detroit Lions held their second practice on Friday afternoon ahead of their Monday Night Football matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders. On Thursday they got some good news with the returns of Jerry Jacobs and Kerby Joseph. Let's see if there's any good news to report today.
Jackson has been out since the game against the Panthers and the hope was that he would be back this week. he did not practice on Thursday though. That streak has now extended to Friday. Jackson is likely going to be out on Monday and a return after the bye is more likely.
Ragnow was on the Lions injury list on Thursday with his usual toe injury. The concern is that a calf injury was added to the mix. It looks like there may be cause for concern as he has now missed two days in a row. He did not practice Friday. Ragnow usually misses one day of practice for rest. A second day could mean that calf injury could be an issue. We'll see what happens Saturday.
Vaitai did practice on Thursday, but he was limited with a back injury. The concern there is that a back injury kept Vaitai out the entire 2022 season. Vaitai did practice again on Friday, but it was more than likely a limited practice again.
Rodriguez had a pretty interesting Sunday when he was not only playing linebacker, but he was the teams fullback as well. He tweaked his ankle at some point during the game and then wound up missing practice on Thursday. He did return to practice Friday.
Montgomery was working on the sideline with trainers again on Friday. The same thing he did on Thursday. So he didn't return to practice, but working with trainers is very good sign that a player is due to return before long.
Jones missed practice on Thursday with an ankle injury. He returned to practice on Friday. That's a good sign for his status on Monday.
