Lions' Jared Goff compares Amon-Ra St. Brown to future Hall of Famer

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff offered interesting praise for teammate Amon-Ra St. Brown ahead of Monday's primetime game between the 5-2 Lions and 3-4 Las Vegas Raiders at Detroit's Ford Field.

"Certain guys are different," Goff said about St. Brown while speaking with Eric Woodyard of ESPN for a piece published Monday. "And I want to make a comparison, but I don't want it to sound crazy, but the way that he is, in the weight room and on the field are very similar in my experience with Aaron Donald. Like, it is business, business, business. He works harder than everybody."

Donald, of course, is the superstar Rams defensive tackle who has earned NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors on three occasions and will one day be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. Goff played with Donald and the Rams from 2016-20.

As for St. Brown, he repeatedly hasn't been shy about the fact that he views falling to the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft as an insult and fuel for motivation. The 24-year-old has famously memorized the names and colleges linked with all 16 wide receivers drafted before him two years ago.

"Aaron's the hardest worker I've ever been around and Saint's right there with him just with the amount of time they put in and how serious they take it when they're on the field," Goff continued. "It's a lot of fun to play with a guy like that."

According to ESPN stats, St. Brown entered Monday night leading the Lions with 51 receptions, 69 targets and 557 receiving yards on the season. He recorded three touchdown catches across his first six games of the campaign.

As of Monday afternoon, OddsChecker listed the Lions as seven-point favorites against the Raiders and -1000 favorites to win the NFC North division title.
