Lions Make Jared Goff Announcement During Commanders Game

Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions were back in action on Sunday night against the Washington Commanders. The Lions entered the matchup following a disappointing 27-24 loss to their divisional rivals, the Minnesota Vikings, in Week 9, and Detroit had every intention of getting back on track against the Commanders.

Goff is in the midst of another big year for the Lions. In eight games played thus far, the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback had already registered 177-of-240 completed passes (73.8%) for 1,915 yards, 17 touchdowns and just three interceptions. Goff added to his tally on Sunday night, en route to making NFL history.

Goff is currently in his 10th NFL season and his fifth in Detroit. He is coming off an incredible 2024 campaign that saw him finish fifth in the MVP voting. Goff has picked up right where he left off from last season, continuing to lead one of the most dangerous offenses in the entire NFL.

On Sunday night against Washington, Goff marked another career milestone. The 31-year-old rewrote the NFL history books after another 300-yard passing game. The Lions took to social media to announce Goff’s latest feat.

As the post indicates, Goff tied two legendary quarterbacks, Dan Marino and Drew Brees, for the 300-yard record. The Lions QB can climb the leaderboards even further in his next game. Goff is now just one game behind Matt Ryan (45) for the No. 2 spot on the list. Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes holds the all-time record with 49 300-yard games in his first 10 seasons. Mahomes is currently just in his ninth year in the NFL.

The Lions dominated Washington in this one. Detroit cruised to a 44-22 victory, improving to 6-3. Goff finished with 25-of-33 completed passes for 320 yards and three TDs.
