The Detroit Lions won’t win a game in the 2021 NFL season.

Their Thanksgiving game against the Chicago Bears was the best opportunity to dent their win column.

Unfortunately, they shot themselves in the foot and let the chance slip away.

The score may reflect a two-point defeat, but they played terribly.

The Lions couldn’t generate enough pressure to rattle Andy Dalton, and penalties robbed them of a few scoring opportunities.

As a result, they fall to 0-10-1 with six games left.

However, it’s a consolation that they’ve clinched the first overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

But they need more than one early draft choice to turn things around as an organization.

The Lions Didn’t Roar Against The Bears

The Detroit Lions did not deserve to win that contest against the struggling Chicago Bears.

They committed several penalties that took them out of scoring situations.

In one of their drives before halftime, Detroit was in field goal range but went back by several yards due to several holding and false start infractions.

The Bears’ defensive front walloped their Lions’ offensive line by being more aggressive and disciplined.

Dalton had all day to make throws, resulting in a 300-yard game.

In contrast, Jared Goff was tentative in making long passes and settled for more underneath conversions.

Detroit’s mental lapses like 12 Men on the Field penalties are appalling.

In the end, they lost another contest by one possession.

Worst, D’Andre Swift might be out of action indefinitely or play limited snaps due to a shoulder injury.

With their best option on offense gone or shackled, how can the Lions compete?

Terrifying Schedule To End The 2021 Season

There’s a strong chance that the Detroit Lions will have their third winless season in franchise history.

The first one happened in 1942 at the height of World War II, while the second occurred in 2008, becoming the first team to lose all matches in a 16-game season.

Unfortunately, they might come full circle despite hiring Dan Campbell as head coach.

On record, the Seattle Seahawks are the weakest team left on their schedule.

But even Russell Wilson can dissect Detroit’s terrible defense and end up with massive numbers.

The same goes with the Atlanta Falcons, who still have former league MVP, Matt Ryan.

Likewise, kicker Younghoe Koo is a dead shot if it comes down to a game-winning field goal.

The Minnesota Vikings have a nice groove as of late, and their defense will breach through the Lions’ protection pocket.

Facing the Denver Broncos defense might bring nightmares to the Lions as well.

Finally, they don’t stand a chance against the Green Bay Packers and the Arizona Cardinals, especially when Aaron Rodgers and Kyler Murray play.

Getting The First Pick Does Not Solve Their Problems

The Lions need more than one pick to turn their fortunes around.

They drafted Matthew Stafford with the first overall pick in 2009 but did not upgrade the roster around him.

Calvin Johnson and Ndamukong Suh were the only other bright spots of that era.

However, two playoff defeats were all they had.

At present, the team is going in the wrong direction because they’ve accepted losing even before the game started.

While an overhaul is imminent, the Lions must transform its culture by bringing in the best coaches and front office personnel.

If they need to overpay, so be it because positive results will earn them more money.

Without this transformation, even getting all number one picks for the next five years won’t work.
