Lions QB Jared Goff's Week 11 status vs. Browns 'uncertain'

Despite a 16-16 tie in Week 10 on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Detroit Lions are still winless in 2021. Now, they may have to play their Week 11 opponent — the Cleveland Browns — without starting quarterback Jared Goff.

The former Los Angeles Rams signal-caller suffered an oblique injury early in the Lions' tie against the Steelers, but Goff battled through it and didn't miss a snap. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Goff's status for week 11 is "uncertain."

"The coaching staff wants to see how well Goff can throw by Wednesday's practice, and whether he can use his core muscles in doing so, before determining his status for the Browns game, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported on Wednesday's NFL Now," NFL.com's Chase Goodbread wrote. "If Goff is ineffective, he could miss a game or two and the club would likely start David Blough, according to Pelissero."

Through nine games this season, Goff has posted a 66.1% completion percentage and thrown for 2,107 passing yards and eight touchdowns against six interceptions. The former first overall pick posted season-lows in completions (14), pass attempts (25), completion percentage (56%), passing yards (112) and quarterback rating (67.4) against Pittsburgh.

While he didn't throw any interceptions against the Steelers, Goff also failed to throw a touchdown pass for the second straight week and fifth time overall this season.
