Lions Reveal Plan to Plunder Buccaneers Coaching Staff

After the Detroit Lions lost to the Washington Commanders in the Divisional Round last weekend, plans began to re-tool the team and coaching staff.

Coach Dan Campbell lost both coordinators to head coaching vacancies, meaning a large turnover of the staff is expected, and Detroit is looking to a former division rival to fill some of those voids.

The Lions are already expected to hire Tampa Bay's defensive line coach and run game coordinator Kacy Rodgers as their defensive line coach.

On Thursday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reported that the Lions will interview Buccaneers inside linebackers coach and pass game coordinator  Larry Foote for their vacant defensive coordinator spot.

Foote has roots in the Motor City and attended high school there before heading to Michigan and then the NFL where he spent 13 seasons playing linebacker.

Foote played for the Steelers and won two Super Bowls and had one season in Detroit to his NFL playing resume.

Foote began his coaching career in 2015 with the Cardinals before joining the staff in Tampa Bay in 2019.
