What a week it's been for the Detroit Lions. On Monday, All-Pro center Frank Ragnow announced that he was retiring from the NFL and left the Lions in a situation where they have to find their next center. On Wednesday, they signed someone who can hold that role in the short term.
The Lions will be signing Trystan Colon to a one-year deal, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Colon went undrafted in the 2020 NFL draft and spent three seasons with the Ravens before signing with the Cardinals. He's been primarly a guard, but has played at center for both the Ravens and Cardinals and was a starting center in college for Missouri.
Colon has a chance to fight for the Lions startung center spot if he can out lay Graham Glasgow for the position. Glasgow has also played center for the Lions in releif of Ragnow, but he has struggled a bit in those starts. Colon has shown some really solid snaps at safety,. Especially in Baltimore.
In Week 17 of the 2021 season, he started at center for the Ravens and put up a 72.5 Pro Football Focus grade. In 2020 he started two games at center and walked out with a cumlative 67.6 grade. Those are his only starts at center in the NFL.
Keep an eye on the center battle this summer. It's going to be a fun one to wath for sure. Glasgow is sitting atop the leaderboard at this moment, but Colon, Tate Ratledge, and Kingsley Eguakun are all names to watch.
