Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown recorded a team-high nine receptions for 45 yards on Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs. The two-time All-Pro wideout, however, did not do enough to help lead his team to what would have been their fifth straight victory.
Instead, the Lions fell short against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, 30-17. After starting off the season with a loss to the Green Bay Packers, Detroit logged four consecutive wins. That hot streak came to an end on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium as the Chiefs, who are now 3-3, secured an important win in the primetime showdown.
St. Brown was one of quarterback Jared Goff’s favorite targets on Sunday night. This has been the case for the three-time Pro Bowler all season long. After their Week 6 loss to Kansas City, St. Brown now has 44 catches for 452 yards and six touchdowns. The former USC Trojans star is now at the halfway mark of his 12-TD tally from last season, where he played 17 games.
St. Brown has been a model of consistency for the Lions since he joined the team as a fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. A testament to this fact is how St. Brown was able to make NFL history despite Sunday’s defeat.
NFL+ announced St. Brown’s latest feat on social media.
“Amon-Ra St. Brown passes Justin Jefferson for the 2nd-most games with 8+ receptions in a player's first 5 seasons in NFL history ,” NFL+ posted on X.

Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings is one of the top wideouts in the game today, and the fact that St. Brown has surpassed him for this reception record says a lot.
St. Brown and the Lions are entering their bye week. They will be back in action on Oct. 20 for another primetime showdown against Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on “Monday Night Football.”
