Lockett And Loaded? Cowboys Top Free Agent 'Target' Revealed

We have been talking at nausium about the Dallas Cowboys' need to add another receiver, maybe two, to help CeeDee Lamb in the passing game.

With Jalen Tolbert as the No. 2 receiver, if a game were played today, that is nightmare fuel for Cowboys Nation, and as such, a receiver is expected to be selected in the first round of the upcoming draft.

But the Cowboys might not be done adding talent after the draft, which Jerry Jones stated at last week's annual league meeting.

We have been urging the Cowboys to pursue veteran free agent Tyler Lockett for weeks, with whom new head coach Brian Schottenheimer has had a relationship since his time in Seattle.

And now, the rumor mill seems to be buzzing about the idea of Lockett as Dallas' next-up No. 1 free agent target.

Lockett, who was released by the Seattle Seahawks this offseason, is a 32-year-old coming off what is a subpar year for him as he caught 49 passes for 600 yards as Seattle's third receiver last season.

So why the excitment? He has all of that Seattle experience playing under new Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

With a market value of just $7.7 million APY, Lockett would bring experience, and also a little fear factor on the long ball, while also giving Dak Prescott a trusted option between the numbers as well.

Having Lamb, say Tetairoa McMillan and then Lockett as your top three receivers, with Tolbert and Jalen Brooks behind them, now the offense looks a little more dangerous and is far less Lamb-centered.

The Cowboys will likely see how the draft shakes out before making any other free agent moves, but Lockett still has some juice in the tank, and could be a shrewd option for Dallas to consider. ... So says the sensible rumors that create the link here.
