Logan Thomas' wife blasts Commanders' offensive play-calling in Instagram post

“Hard watching this when here we are two years later and no red zone targets smh, so much offensive talent. You think if you had weapons, you’d utilize them? But I’m not an NFL coach so what do I know,” Thomas wrote.

Logan Thomas had similar words, while not as direct to his situation.

“The way I put it is: We got so much talent, we should be scoring more points than we have [been],” Thomas told The Post’s, Sam Fortier.

The Commanders have one of the more formidable groups of players at skill positions in the NFL. Along with Thomas, the Commanders have running backs Brian Robinson Jr. and Antonio Gibson and wide receivers Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson and Curtis Samuel.

Thomas blossomed in his first season in Washington with 72 catches, 670 receiving yards, and six touchdowns. In 2021, he was limited to six games due to injuries, including a torn ACL that ended his season. He worked back to start the season on time.

However, Thomas was an afterthought in the offense in 2022. He had 39 catches, 323 yards and one touchdown in 14 games.

The Commanders had subpar quarterback play that negated the weapons within the offense. Even McLaurin, the team’s leading receiver, felt the effects of Wentz’s shortcomings. There were multiple issues with the offense, but offensive coordinator Scott Turner is the lightning rod for the criticism. Head coach Ron Rivera isn’t absolved from blame, either.

Fixing the offense has to be a priority for Washington. That starts at quarterback but needs to include scheme and philosophy.

As for Thomas, he is a cap-casualty candidate this upcoming offseason. Thomas carries an $8.75 million cap hit for the 2023 season. However, the Commanders can save $5 million against the salary cap by moving on.
