After seven seasons with the New England Patriots, linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley said goodbye to the franchise after it was reported that he was going to be released ahead of the 2025 season.
Along with his initial post on X, formerly known as Twitter, he also took to Instagram, penning an emotional farewell to the place he called home since his NFL career began.
"I want to say thank you to Mr. Kraft, Coach Belichick, Coach Mayo, and the entire New England Patriots organization for believing in me and giving me my NFL start," Bentley wrote. "To the fans, thank you for welcoming me and making New England home for the past 7 years. Grateful for it all."

The Patriots brought in two new linebackers in free agency this offseason - Robert Spillane and Jack Gibbens. They also used their tender on Christian Elliss, and while the Raiders did extend him an offer sheet, New England matched it.
Plus, Bentley suffered a torn pectoral muscle during the 2024 season and was released with a failed physical designation. He was one of the last two players remaining on the Patriots from the Super Bowl championship days. Now, the last one standing is long snapper Joe Cardona.
Bentley ends his career in New England with 508 total tackles, 10.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, two interceptions, and 11 passes defended.
He departs Foxborough as a three-time captain.
