Los Angeles Chargers: Austin Ekeler Gets Injury Update; To Miss Practice Wednesday
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers reportedly will be without their star running back in practice on Wednesday following an injury they sustained on Sunday. Chargers running back Austin Ekeler suffered an ankle injury in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins.

After the game, Chargers head coach Brandon Staley said he was unsure if Ekeler would be available to play in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network gave an update on Ekeler’s situation Wednesday.

Los Angeles Chargers: Austin Ekeler will miss practice Wednesday

Per Rapoport, Ekeler will not be at practice Wednesday. Ekeler is expected to attend his agent’s funeral, which occurs at the same time as the Chargers practice. Rapoport thinks Ekeler wouldn’t have been a participant at practice even if he weren’t attending the funeral.

Ekeler will be re-evaluated on Thursday.

The report doesn’t seem hopeful if Rapoport thinks Ekeler would have been sitting out of practice if he weren’t dealing with the tragic loss in his personal life. We’ll know more on Thursday when the team releases the second injury report of the week.
