Los Angeles Chargers Fans Furious After Trading Away Superstar
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers have been one of the most interesting teams to watch during free agency as they were projected to give up some key players to clear up cap space. The team has already released stars Mike Williams, Austin Ekeler, and Gerald Everett, leaving quarterback Justin Herbert with a serious lack of weapons at his disposal. Now, Los Angeles has traded another superstar from their offense to the Chicago Bears, and Chargers fans are not happy about what they got in return.

Los Angeles Chargers Trade Superstar

The Chargers have traded away superstar wide receiver Keenan Allen to the Bears in exchange for a fourth-round pick. Allen was one of the few players in Los Angeles who has been a part of the team since they were in San Diego and was a fan favorite since joining the squad in 2013. The star receiver has amounted to 10,530 receiving yards, 904 receptions, and 59 touchdowns throughout his career, making him one of the league’s most elite pass catchers.

Chargers Fans React

Many Chargers fans are furious by the move, especially with what their team got in return for the superstar. Many fans thought Allen would be a “Charger for life,” making the sudden loss of the superstar personal for a lot of people. Here are some of the reactions to the blockbuster trade on social media:

What’s Next For Los Angeles?

Many fans and analysts are already calling the Chargers’ receiving room one of the worst in the NFL after the trade. The new starting receivers will be Quentin Johnston, Joshua Palmer, and tight end Will Dissly, a significant downgrade from what the team had just last season. It seems that Los Angeles is focusing more on fixing the defense this offseason, which has been close to dead last in every defensive category for the last few years, rather than keeping their veteran playmakers on offense.

With the Kansas City Chiefs adding star receiver Marquise Brown, it looks like the Chargers could be in for a rough couple of seasons on offense, especially in the AFC West. Do you think Los Angeles made the right decision trading Allen away for a fourth-round pick, or should they have looked at other players to possibly trade away?
