The Los Angeles Chargers certainly made some notable additions to their offensive unit in the 2025 NFL Draft. Justin Herbert needed more weapons, and Los Angeles obliged after staying fairly quiet in that category in free agency, outside of RB Najee Harris.
NFL insider Jeremy Fowler revealed some intriguing updates around the NFL as the buzz around the draft dies down a bit.
General manager Joe Hortiz stayed patient and got his man -- second-round receiver Tre Harris out of Ole Miss. He's billed as a deep threat, but part of what drew the Chargers to him is that he has more in the tank. The Chargers say they believe he has the capability to expand his route tree and be a complete receiver. He runs great "shake" routes and in-breakers. "And he plays faster than his [4.45] 40 time," a team source said.

Fowler does not think that LA is "eager" to add a free agent at wide receiver. That would most likely include veteran WR Keenan Allen, who remains unsigned. Allen previously said that he would like to play in Los Angeles or return to the Chicago Bears.
Allen is a name who has been floated around the social media parameters due to his strong ties to the Chargers fan base and organization.
And now most of the Chargers' receiver room is occupied by players on rookie contracts, including fifth-round rookie KeAndre Lambert-Smith. I don't get the sense the Chargers are eager to add a free agent there. They like the young nucleus and how it might develop. But Keenan Allen is still out there, among others, if Los Angeles changes course.

There is no doubt that Tre Harris certainly does fill a need. If they really do trust him enough, then there's not a particular push to go get another, aging option with a similar body type. They also have Quentin Johnston as a piece of the depth chart, too.
We will see what Harbaugh and Hortiz decide over the course of the next couple of months. An in-season addition could be on the table if necessary as well.
