Los Angeles Chargers Get Massive Injury Update On Austin Ekeler- Week 6
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers star running back Austin Ekeler is coming back to the action this Monday in the matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Ekeler has missed the last few games for the Chargers due to an ankle injury suffered in week one against the Miami Dolphins. He told reporters that he is 99% sure that he will be playing this week, pretty much solidifying him as an active starter for Los Angeles.

Austin Ekeler Injury

Ekeler has had a rather quick recovery time for a sprained ankle which usually takes about four to six weeks to fully heal. However, the Chargers had a bye in week five which significantly increased the chances of the star running back returning to action. His presence will most likely increase the Chargers’ chances of taking down the Cowboys.

During his absence from the game, Los Angeles’ run game has certainly decreased in production in comparison the the first game of the season with Ekeler as the starter. In the first game of 2023 against the Dolphins, the star running back amounted to 117 yards rushing and a touchdown. His comeback to in-game action will certainly be something that Dallas should be aware of.

Los Angeles Chargers Career

Since joining the NFL in 2017, Ekeler has rushed for 3,844 yards and 35 touchdowns, solidifying himself as the RB1 for the Chargers. In addition to being a great runner, he has also been a key component in Los Angeles’ passing game. The star running back has caught 393 passes in his career which has helped out his quarterback Justin Herbert significantly to keep the Chargers from being a one-dimensional offense.

This will mark only the second time we get to see Ekeler in action this season. He will look to pick up right where he left off in week one and become a formidable force for the Chargers offense. The game against the Cowboys will certainly be a great test for Los Angeles to tell if they are the real deal.
