Former Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Chris Rumph, who was sidelined for the entirety of the 2024 season, is actively working toward a return to the NFL field in 2025. According to the league’s daily transaction report on Friday, Rumph participated in a tryout with the Denver Broncos. As of now, it remains uncertain whether the Broncos will offer him a contract to join their 90-man offseason roster.
Rumph was originally a fourth-round draft selection by the Chargers in the 2021 NFL Draft. He played three seasons with the team, contributing in a rotational role before a foot injury forced him to miss the entirety of the 2024 campaign.
Unfortunately, the 2023 season also saw an early end for Rumph due to a fractured foot. Over his 37 total games played for the Chargers, Rumph accumulated 39 tackles, three sacks, one pass defensed, and one fumble recovery, showcasing his potential as a versatile defensive contributor.
His tryout with the Broncos signifies his determination to overcome his recent injury setbacks and resume his NFL career.
