Los Angeles Chargers Talked With Amazing Wide Receiver Prospect During Combine
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers want to start their Jim Harbaugh era on the right foot, and they have the perfect opportunity to accelerate their rebuild with the fifth pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The former Michigan head coach knows that he needs a capable weapon that Justin Herbert can rely on if they want to rattle the Kansas CIty Chiefs’ reign over the AFC.

They’ll likely use their pick to get a talented wideout, and they have made their intentions known after interviewing one of the top wide receiver talents during the Combine.

Los Angeles Chargers interview Washington WR Rome Oduze during Scouting Combine

Gavino Borquez of Chargers Wire reported that the team’s scouting department have already linked with the Washington wideout during the recently concluded Draft Combine:

James Odunze, father of Washington WR Rome Odunze, confirmed that he met with Los Angeles this past week in Indianapolis, IN.

Odunze put up an incredible season during his final year with the Washington Huskies. His 1640 receiving yards were a school record and the best in the NCAA. He also completed 13 receiving TDs, 17.8 yards per catch, 37 rushing yards, and one rushing TD.

Harbaugh is also familiar with Odunze’s game since his Wolverines played the Huskies in the National Championship. In that game, he made five catches for 87 yards.

Borquez also noted Rome Odunze’s impressive Combine numbers, which should take a bit of pressure off his Pro Day:

Odunze is coming off a terrific performance at Lucas Oil Stadium. He ran a 4.45 40-yard dash and jumped a 39-inch vertical. He posted a 6.88 three-cone drill, but he stayed on the field to try to get a 6.6, which speaks to his strog work ethic.

There is currently experiencing plenty of turnover within the team, so the Los Angeles Chargers need all the help they can get to start the season right.

Odunze is the perfect plug-and-play playmaker who can immediately make an impact on Herbert, Harbaugh, and the rest of the Chargers offense.

If everything goes as planned, the Chargers should be able to get him by the time they’re on the clock.
