Los Angeles Rams drafted three instant impact stars who are set to debut this week at NFL Rookie Minicamp
Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

The 2024 NFL Draft is behind us. The NFL offseason is now in full swing. Next up: Rookie Minicamps. Several NFL teams have already met for their minicamps in the last week. The Los Angeles Rams will be welcoming all of their draft picks, undrafted free agent signings, and camp invite players for their rookie minicamp this week!

Rookie Minicamp activities for the Rams will start May 10th and conclude on the 11th. This is a great opportunity for each and every incoming rookie to make their presence known, proving to the team that they're ready to make an instant impact in year one for the team.

Let's dive into some of the new players who will be making their first appearance at rookie minicamp and could be primed to break out this season for the Rams!

Jared Verse, EDGE Florida State

The Rams had a clear need at edge rusher coming into the NFL Draft so it made perfect sense to select Jared Verse. Byron Young and Michael Hoecht are a decent second and third best edge rusher combination, but Verse should pull extra defensive attention on every snap. He posted a pass rush pressure rate just shy of 20% last season, which was good for second in the entire 2024 NFL Draft class behind only Laiatu Latu.

Verse is not just an incredibly efficient pass rusher. He's also an amazing story. He went from zero star recruit with virtually no interest from college football programs, to Albany (an FCS school), to star edge rusher for 13-0 Florida State, to first round NFL Draft pick. And he was the only player selected in the first round of this NFL Draft class with a story anywhere near that kind of long shot odds at success. Verse should immediately become a fan favorite this fall.

Braden Fiske, DL Florida State

And if one great story wasn't enough, the Rams decided to follow up their selection of Jared Verse by drafting his former Florida State teammate, Braden Fiske. And in case you missed the video of the call from Les Snead, Sean McVay, and Jared Verse to Braden on draft day make sure you check that out in the post below.

Braden Fiske was a bit of a long shot himself. A low level three star recruit, he played most of his career at Western Michigan before he transferred to Florida State, inevitably dominating the ACC last fall.

He posted a career pressure rate above 11% playing almost exclusively interior defensive line. Then this spring at the NFL Combine he posted a 90th percentile Athletic Composite Score for defensive line prospects. Fiske should easily slot in alongside Kobie Turner to create one of the best defensive line tandems in the league.

Kamren Kinchens, S Miami (FL)

Prior to selecting Kamren Kinchens in round three of the NFL Draft the Rams had basically one starting caliber safety on their entire roster (Kamren Curl). Jordan Fuller and John Johnson are gone. Russ Yeast is frankly a liability. Kinchens shouldn't have any problem earning snaps early in his NFL career.

I asked him about some of the defensive backs that he wants to learn from and who he models his game after at the Senior Bowl, and here's what he had to say:

His comparison and desire to play like Antoine Winfield is fitting. Kinchens showed great versatility and ball-hawking ability while at Miami. He snagged 11 interceptions in his last two seasons playing an incredibly rangy free safety role and should be the perfect fit for the Rams. Expect to hear great things immediately out of rookie camp on Kinchens.
