The LSU Tigers appear to be one of the early favorites for one of the top 2027 college football recruits in the nation.

2027 wide receiver Ethan Feaster, 6-foot/175 lbs from DeSoto, TX, recently spoke to 247Sports about his recruitment and he pointed out LSU as one of three programs (along with Texas A&M and USC) that's doing the best job of "connecting" with him during the recruiting process.

Feaster told 247Sports that he's a big fan of LSU co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton.

From 247Sports: "(Co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers) coach (Cortez) Hankton — you look at his track record, you look at the receivers in the league right now," Feaster said. "(Former Georgia Bulldog and current Los Angeles Charger) Ladd McConkey, that's (credit to Hankton as Georgia's wide receivers coach from 2018-21). A lot of people don't give (Hankton) credit for (McConkey), but that's him. You see what he's doing. You see what (former LSU wide receiver) Malik Nabers is doing — Brian Thomas, too. (Former Georgia wide receiver) George Pickens is under (Hankton). He's got a long track record. He might be the best receivers coach ever, maybe other than (Ohio State's) Brian Hartline."

Feaster is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 1 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Texas. He's also ranked as the No. 6 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.

Other programs -- such as Texas, Oregon, Tennessee, and Ohio State -- are also in the mix, but it might be the Tigers who are the current leaders in this battle.

"This one has a long way to go. The Texas schools are, no doubt, going to be in it until the end. LSU is a big, big player in this one and might be the leader right now," wrote 247Sports' Tom Loy this week

As Loy noted, there's a long way to go in this recruiting battle, but LSU is certainly sitting in a good spot for the coveted wide receiver.
