Despite a breakout season in 2022, "Madden 24" isn't buying in to the Trevor Lawrence hype.
On Friday, the video game revealed its annual quarterback ratings. The Jaguars QB fell just outside the top 10, ranking No. 11 behind Miami's Tua Tagovailoa, Minnesota's Kirk Cousins and Dallas' Dak Prescott.

Lawrence's play last season merits a higher ranking. In 17 games, he threw for the ninth-most yards (4,113) in the NFL, tied for eighth in passing TDs (25) and finished 10th in passer rating (95.2). Also, he captured his first postseason victory, leading a 27-point comeback and throwing four TDs in a 31-30 win over the Chargers in the wild-card round.
The 23-year-old is entering his second season with head coach Doug Pederson, a former Super Bowl champion coach, so he's acclimated to his system and could increase his production. Consequently, former NFL general manager and CBS sports contributor Rick Spielman believes he will vault into the elite QB tier.
"I think the sky is the limit for him," Spielman recently said of Lawrence on SiriusXM NFL radio. "I think a year from now, we're gonna be talking about Trevor Lawrence up there with the Joe Burrows of the world with the Josh Allens of the world."
Per DraftKings, Lawrence is tied with Baltimore's Lamar Jackson and Los Angeles' Justin Herbert for the fifth-best MVP odds (+1500). If he has another big year, his case will grow.
"Madden" ratings change throughout the regular season, meaning Lawrence could hop into the top 10. Regardless, the initial grade is a mistake because he's on track to become one of the best QBs in the league.
