Madden 25 reveals shocking ratings for Minnesota Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy and Sam Darnold

Madden ratings are one of the more fun things in the offseason. It gives fans a look at how each player is viewed across the league compared to their contemporaries. On Thursday, the tight ends, cornerbacks and specialists were revealed and it showed the Vikings are in a decent spot.

On Friday, the wait is over for the quarterbacks. The Vikings currently have four on the roster and they are ranked in a very surprising way.

Minnesota Vikings Madden 25 quarterback rankings

  • J.J. McCarthy: 71
  • Sam Darnold: 70
  • Nick Mullens: 61
  • Jaren Hall: 59

This is a shocking result for the Vikings' rankings. Darnold is currently the top quarterback on the roster but is still ranked one point behind McCarthy who has yet to take a snap.

Now, this would make more sense if it was Caleb Williams (76), Jayden Daniels (74), or Drake Maye (74), all of whom went in the top three. McCarthy was selected at 10th overall and is tied with Bo Nix (71) and one point ahead of Michael Penix Jr. (70).

Is this too high of praise for McCarthy? That is debatable right now. Fans will tell you that McCarthy is better than Darnold but practices haven't bore that out just yet. These are subject to change throughout the season based on performance as well.

As things currently sit, McCarthy being viewed favorably is a good thing.
