Last year, we used an online version of the Magic 8 Ball to predict an Offensive Rookie of the Year award for quarterback Jayden Daniels and incorrectly named Dan Quinn as NFL Coach of the Year.
Let’s see how it does in 2025.
Will WR Terry McLaurin get a new contract this offseason?
Magic 8 Ball says: Outlook not so good.
Time is certainly running out to get a deal done with training camp less than a week away. Whether or not the team’s No. 1 receiver will be there remains to be seen, as McLaurin was non-committal when asked if he’d report on time.
"Honestly, I haven't decided that yet," McLaurin said. "I'm trying to take things day by day. I think that's the disappointing part where I was hoping up into this point things would clear up a lot more than they have. I haven't made that decision yet. I'm just going to see how the rest of this week goes and take it day by day and go from there."
McLaurin has been the Commanders' leading receiver since arriving in Washington as a third-round pick in 2019. He’s topped 1,000 yards for five consecutive seasons and finished last year with a career-high 13 touchdowns.

The 29-year-old receiver is entering the final year of a three-year, $68M contract extension that will pay him $24M in 2025, making him the 19th-highest paid receiver in the NFL.
With apologies to the Magic 8 Ball, one has to think general manager Adam Peters, who hit all the right notes in 2024, will get something done for a player as important (and popular) as McLaurin.
Will Daniels suffer a "sophomore slump?”
Magic 8 Ball says: Don’t count on it.
Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was named Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2023 after throwing 23 touchdowns and only five interceptions in the regular season. Last year, he struggled, throwing 12 interceptions while taking 52 sacks.
Naturally, some fans wonder if Daniels will suffer a similar fate. It’s possible, but not likely, based on what the Commanders have put around him for 2025.
First, the team traded for Laremy Tunsil, a five-time Pro Bowl left tackle. Then Peters, who spent seven seasons with the 49ers, made a deal to bring wide receiver Deebo Samuel over from San Francisco.
They also drafted Josh Conerly Jr., a 6-foot-4, 315-pound All-American, with the 29th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Factor in another year with offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, and Daniels should continue to perform at a high level.
Will Washington win the NFC East?
Magic 8 Ball says: You may rely on it.
Sorry, Philadelphia. Better luck next time, Dallas. The Magic 8 Ball sounds pretty optimistic about this year's Commanders.
Washington hasn’t won the division since 2020, when head coach Ron Rivera’s team used a 7-9 record to win the title. Sharing a division with the Super Bowl champion Eagles, we assume a winning record will be needed this time, which shouldn’t be hard after going 12-5 in 2024.
The Commanders opened last season as long shots to win the division, with odds ranging anywhere from (+900) to (+1200). This year, the team owns the second-best odds (+225) of winning the division and the eighth-best odds (16-1) of winning Super Bowl LX.
