The Green Bay Packers' 2025 schedule features a series of eye-opening games and scenarios, including Matt LaFleur’s first-ever Week 1 game at Lambeau Field, a second-half NFC North gauntlet, a Monday night showdown against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, and Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow making their first career starts at Lambeau Field.

Green Bay faces the fifth roughest strength of schedule in 2025, making the road back to the Super Bowl more challenging than in previous years. Still, it is a path that opens a window for special moments between players and fans throughout the season.

Still, for many Packers fans, the most memorable moment will come in Week 8.

On Thursday afternoon, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Aaron Rodgers intended to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Later that day, Pittsburgh confirmed they had reached a one-year agreement with the future first-ballot Hall of Famer.

Rumors swirled all offseason about mutual interest between Rodgers and the Steelers. Now that a deal is done, the Packers will head to Pittsburgh for a Week 8 Sunday Night Football showdown against their former quarterback.

Rodgers has beaten 31 of the 32 NFL teams — Green Bay being the only one he hasn’t defeated. For many members of the Packers organization, and Rodgers himself, it should be a truly special night.

“I thought it was a great partnership,” LaFleur said about Rodgers during an appearance on the Chris Simms Unbuttoned podcast. “Certainly, there were some moments of struggle, but when you have people who are passionate, convicted about what they’re doing, and care deeply, it usually benefits the team. We kind of helped each other in that regard.”

Rodgers himself had some positive remarks about the Packers during a recent appearance on the YNK podcast

"There's a lot of love for me and how I feel about the team," Rodgers said.

“If I do or don’t retire as a Packer, I don’t think it should make a difference. I’m not sure yet. If they approached me about it, I probably would,” Rodgers said about signing a one-day contract to symbolically retire as a Packer.

During his 15 years as the Packers’ starting quarterback, Rodgers won four regular season MVPs, a Super Bowl MVP, earned four First-Team All-Pro honors, and was selected to ten Pro Bowls. He is the most talented thrower of football in NFL history and holds a special place in the hearts of many Packers fans. There will be plenty of hugs and handshakes before and after the game — but in between, Rodgers will be the enemy.

The Packers are in for a real test in Pittsburgh. Acrisure Stadium is always a tough place to play. Mike Tomlin is one of the best coaches in the league, and the Steelers have a strong defense. There will be plenty of eyes on this matchup — and it has the potential to deliver in a big way, both in storylines and on the field.
