Malik Nabers 2025 NFL Dynasty Outlook

Malik Nabers enters his second season with the New York Giants in 2025, the second year of his four-year rookie contract worth $29.208 million. After playing three seasons for Louisiana State University, Nabers entered the NFL Draft as one of the top wide receivers on the big board.

He entered the NFL Draft in 2024, where the Giants drafted him in the first round, 6th overall. In his only season in the league thus far, Nabers amassed 1,204 receiving yards on 109 receptions and seven receiving touchdowns, along with 2 yards rushing and no additiona l touchdowns. He has not completed his one pass attempt.

Last season, Malik Nabers was a top-ten wide receiver in all league formats. Nabers slotted in as a rookie last year seamlessly and is a reliable and potential superstar talent for the Giants. His quarterback situation last year was downright abysmal, yet he still managed to put up solid statistical numbers with no consistency under center. He should continue to succeed with whatever is around him, as the focal point of the Giants’ offense, and his ability to make impressive catches and plays after the catch, and in the endzone, makes him a true threat each time he touches the ball.

The defense is shaky, and the quarterback is a roller coaster of bad to w orse. Will a quarterback help Malik Nabers fine-tune his skills and help him remain one of the top receivers in the league?

Malike Nabers played in 15 of 17 games last season with the Giants. Nabers caught 109 of 170 passes thrown his way, for 1,204 receiving yards while recording 7 touchdowns. He also rushed for two yards in five attempts, with no additional touchdowns. He accumulated no passing or special-teams points.

In 2024, Malik Nabers was a mid-range WR1 for any fantasy team that drafted him. Using Fantasy Pros standard scoring, Nabers was worth 11.0 points per game for a total of 164.6 points cumulatively. In PPR leagues, those numbers jumped to 18.2 points per game for a cumulative total of 273.6 points. In all formats, he scored between the sixth and eighth most points of any wide receiver in the league.

He missed two games in his rookie season with a concussion, something that needs to be monitored in the future. He has had a couple of other minor injuries in college and in pre-season, but did not miss any games. Nabers was the clear lead wide receiver for the Giants despite being surrounded by a very underwhelming offense. Malik Nabers is a clear top-ten wide receiver, with the opportunity to grow even more in his sophomore season.

Malik Nabers 2025 Fantasy Outlook

Malik Nabers enters 2025 healthy and coming off a very strong rookie campaign. Unlike other players in the outlook series, Nabers has security for at least several years with his current team, given he is only one year into his rookie deal. Although with the question marks on the Giants, that security may not be a total net positive. Nabers will look to show teams he has even more in him and propel himself to among the most dominant weapons in the NFL while attempting to push the Giants to a competitive level with at least his fourth different quarterback in his brief career.

Nabers still managed to post great numbers in 2024, even as the team around him struggled, and his quarterback situation was in flux due to injury, incompetance, and underperformance. He became a safety net for anyone who was under center in the season, and that should only continue with a more stable situation at quarterback, albeit with a struggling coaching staff.

According to Fantasy Pros, Malik Nabers is projected as the 13th overall pick in standard leagues, eigth among wide receivers. In PPR leagues, he gets a jump due to his amount of targets, at number nine overall and number six among wide receivers, and has the exact same rankings in half PPR leagues as well.

Entering 2025, I expect Nabers to have an even better year than his rookie season. With a new quarterback under center, perhaps he can build some consistency, whether it be newly drafted Jaxson Dart or veteran Russell Wilson, and a newly drafted runningback Cam Skattebo beside him on offense with playmaker Tyrone Tracy Jr. as well, Nabers can continue to gather targets and yards with teams having to guard against the run as well. The Giants have hopes of making a push towards the playoffs, although it seems very unlikely, because both the co ach and the general manager are on thin ice with their jobs.

Malik Nabers should be able to gather 1400-1500 total passing yards, which would be a career high, 115-125 receptions, also a career high, and 10-12 touchdowns. Despite an offense that is still working to be a legitimate threat, Nabers should still be able to improve on his rookie season. He is projected to get drafted somewhere in the mid to late first round. For the 2025 season, this value matches his talent, and he could even outperform projections, but there is inherent risk with any player in the early stages of their career on an inconsistent team.

Malik Nabers Dynasty Outlook

Malik Nabers will be entering his age-22 season this year. There is no question that Nabers has multiple good years left in his prime, even pushing a decade worth of high-level contribution given his age. He could stay near the top of the wide receiver rankings throughout that time. Given his youth, he should be a reliable force in a fantasy lineup. The one thing to watch is if concussions start to become a common occurrence with him.

Many other good wide receivers in the league can put up solid fantasy points. However, what Malik Nabers was able to pull off as a rookie on a terrible team and complete disasters at QB caught the attention of the league. The positive is that wide receivers age better than running backs, and Nabers is still very young, so he should only continue to grow and fill out dominant stat lines for years to come. If he can put up great numbers with no real quarterback, he can put up numbers with any player.

The biggest red flag for Malik Nabers is not him, but the team around him. Drafting Cam Skatteboo could impact some of the opportunities he has come his way, but possibly in a good way. A coaching staff that is much maligned and on a short leash could potentially change the scheme and leave confusion in the locker room partway through the season. Russell Wilson remains an inconsistent force at the quarterback position, and Jaxson Dart is an unproven rookie. However, given that Nabers had proven himself under multiple different play callers in 2024, all of whom have a history of struggling on Brian Daboll’s offense, he proved that his numbers could be repeated even in chaos.

Malike Nabers is a clear top-level talent with the potential to become a superstar, and he can slot in with consistent targets and numbers each week. He should be held on to if he is already owned by you in your league, unless a team wants to offer a king’s ransom. He will score plenty of points and slot in as one of the better and more consistent WR1s in the league, an easy start every week. His consistent numb er of targets makes him especially valuable in PPR leagues.

Owners should be reserved of giving up a lot to acquire him if the asking price is too high, though, depending on your team’s depth. A single WR is not enough to carry a team on his own, and given his age and success so far, the cost will likely cripple the team around him. Owners will ask for the moon, and ultimately, one player will not win you a league unless you have incredible depth to withstand the price tag.

Final Thoughts

Entering his age-22 season, Malik Nabers has a short track record, but the success he did have should give fantasy owners confidence that it will continue for many years to come. For 2025, he is worth drafting and relying on as a middle to top-end WR1 option. Nabers had a great rookie season, and assuming he again stays healthy, that pattern should continue. The Giants are attempting to be back in contention and have a chip on their shoulder to prove themselves, so opportunities should come for the skilled WR. Nabers is no guarantee, but he should still be a pretty safe bet overall.

49ers pull off trade for disgruntled Commanders star

Brian Robinson‘s tenure with the Washington Commanders is coming to an end as expected. The fourth-year running back will spend the coming season in San Francisco. The San Francisco 49ers and Commanders agreed to terms on a Robinson trade Friday, as first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. A 2026 sixth-round pick will head the other way as a result of the swap. San Francisco had been in the market for a backfield addition, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. Efforts to pull off a move have now paid off ahead of roster cutdowns. Washington will retain a portion of Robinson’s 2025 salary ($3.4M), Garafolo adds. It recently became clear Washington was looking to move on from Robinson, who did not dress in the team’s second preseason game, with a trade looming. The team’s Dan Quinn-Adam Peters regime has been open to a trade since last year, and with a swap now agreed to it will proceed with its other in-house RB options. Washington has veteran Austin Ekeler in the fold along with 2023 draftee Chris Rodriguez and seventh-round rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who has enjoyed a strong training camp. Quarterback Jayden Daniels led the Commanders in rushing last year, and today’s deal indicates he will once again be counted on as a central element of the team’s ground game. Expectations are high after Washington made a surprise run to the NFC title game during Daniels’ rookie campaign. Robinson will not play a role in the team’s efforts to duplicate that success, though. Racking up 570 carries across his three seasons in the nation’s capital, Robinson was a key figure on offense with the Commanders. The former third-rounder saw his touchdown total and yards per attempt figure increase with each passing campaign. That included eight scores and 4.3 yards per carry in 2024. Instead of retaining Robinson on the final year of his rookie pact, however, Washington will proceed with a less expensive backfield. The Commanders will recoup draft capital in this swap, something which is needed given the number of veterans on their roster. For the 49ers, meanwhile, today’s deal marks another addition on offense for the 2025 season. A trade was worked out on Wednesday for Skyy Moore, giving San Francisco a healthy receiver option. Moore, like Robinson, is a pending 2026 free agent. The 49ers have Christian McCaffrey atop the RB depth chart, and all parties involved will aim for a healthier season this time around than 2024. After trading away Jordan Mason, the team was in position to have 2024 fourth-rounder Isaac Guerendo handle backup duties. Now, he and Robinson will compete for playing time in the backfield (although using McCaffrey and Robinson on the field together could be an option, per Garafolo). Robinson’s market will of course be dictated in large part by the level of success he has with his new team. San Francisco entered Friday with nearly $49M in cap space. Taking on Robinson will eat into the figure, and it will be interesting to see how much Washington retained on his pact to finalize the trade. The Commanders, meanwhile, should see partial cap savings and thus add to their roughly $17M in available funds ahead of cutdowns. As both NFC teams prepare for the campaign in the coming days, they will do so with differences in their backfields.

Buccaneers' Shilo Sanders may have jeopardized chance to make 53-man roster

Saturday was not a good day for Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders, two players competing for a spot on the 53-man roster of their respective teams, the Cleveland Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hours after Shedeur took more sacks (five) than completions (three) and had a heated moment with Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski, Shilo was ejected from the Buccaneers' preseason game against the Buffalo Bills. "Bucs S Shilo Sanders has been ejected from tonight's game following an unnecessary roughness penalty," Scott Smith of the Buccaneers posted on X. Shilo appeared to take exception to Zach Davidson hitting and blocking him after a play had ended before the rookie took a swing at the Bills' tight end. The ejection came at a bad time for Shilo, who was competing with Kaevon Merriweather and Rashad Wisdom for the No. 4 safety spot on the depth chart. Before the game, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said that Shilo's output against the Bills would be big in his evaluation before the team has to trim the roster to 53 players by Tuesday. "Shilo's very aggressive, very young, very hungry," Bowles said. "He can make plays in the box and we know he can run down and give us 100% on special teams, so this last week is going to be very important for those guys to show up." Following the ejection, Shilo lost critical playing time to show his strengths on the field. He also showed the coaching staff a short temper and cost Tampa Bay with an unnecessary penalty. Shilo will end his preseason with four total tackles. He has shown he has the talent to be in the league, but Shilo's role will likely be as a practice squad player until his play and mental strength develop.

Pat McAfee has strong reaction to Hall of Fame honor

Former punter Pat McAfee is receiving an honor that is rare for a special teams member. On Friday, West Virginia announced that McAfee was one of six players entering the program's Hall of Fame for the 2025 class. McAfee is thankful for the recognition from his former school. He used some strong language to react to WVU's reveal. "It was nice to have an opportunity to think back and reminisce about a great era of my life," McAfee posted on X. "I am so thankful for the recognition. This is normally something I would try and f------ hate.. I’d say that it’s b------- and they feel obligated to do this but; this call made my soul feel good. Thanks for the opportunity to be a Mountaineer @RealCoachRod.. it was an honor." McAfee was a highly productive specialist at West Virginia, earning First-team All-American honors in 2008. During his time with the Mountaineers, he set the school record for most games played (51), scoring (384) and extra points made (210). He held the Big East record for most extra points made, when he made 210 of 212 attempts. McAfee's success at West Virginia propelled the Indianapolis Colts to select him in the seventh round of the 2009 draft. He earned All-Pro honors in 2014 and made the Pro Bowl in 2014 and 2016. He has the highest career net average in punting years with 41.1. McAfee should be proud of his achievements during his days in college and the legacy he is building with the program. The ESPN pundit even used his influence to speak with WVU athletic director Wren Baker to help with the coaching search that ultimately brought back Rich Rodriguez to the school.

Ex-Chiefs' QB gets rare chance, dazzles in Bills' preseason win over Buccaneers

With Mitch Trubisky and Mike White seemingly a step ahead in the battle for the Buffalo Bills' backup quarterback role, Shane Buechele was somewhat of an afterthought when looking at the big picture. Being a roster longshot wasn't nearly enough to deter Buechele from letting it rip during the Bills' final preseason game on Saturday night in Tampa. The native Texan earned the starting nod against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he proceeded to quarterback Buffalo to a wire-to-wire exhibition win. “It's my first time ever playing a full game in the NFL, and it was a lot of fun, man. I just thank God for the opportunity," said Buechele. The 27-year-old Buechele went 25-of-30 passing for 278 yards and one touchdown in the 23-19 victory over the Buccaneers. Two of his five incompletions could be considered drops by the intended receiver. He also rushed for 20 yards on five carries. “Great to have Shane out there. I thought he had great command of the game. We moved the ball down the field, and we were able to score points, control clock, play good situational football," said Bills' head coach Sean McDermott. While Buechele has yet to take a regular season snap, he's been in the NFL since signing with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2021. He was on the Chiefs' roster throughout their 2022 Super Bowl season, but was inactive on gamedays. Buechele joined the Bills' practice squad after being released by the Chiefs prior to the 2023 regular season. He suffered an injury last summer, landing on season-ending Injured Reserve. Fighting to remain a member of the Bills' QB room for a third year, Buechele appears in all three preseason games. His 380 yards passing ranked third overall amongst AFC leaders this summer.
