Malik Nabers comes down with first NFL touchdown catch vs. Commanders

New York Giants rookie wideout Malik Nabers found the end zone for the first time in his NFL career in Sunday’s Week 2 road tilt against the Washington Commanders.

Quarterback Daniel Jones found Nabers for a four-yard score with eight seconds remaining in the first half to give the Giants a 12-9 lead going into the locker room.

Nabers has wasted no time in proving the Giants right for picking him sixth overall in April’s NFL Draft. The former LSU star hauled in five receptions for 66 yards in Week 1 and through one half of football Sunday, has already exceeded his production from last Sunday. Nabers leads all Giants pass catchers with five catches for 73 yards.

Nabers is the unquestioned WR1 in New York, and it will likely stay that way for a long, long time.

Malik Nabers off to blazing start in New York

Nabers suited up in Sunday’s game after experiencing knee soreness earlier this week. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice and was no concern to miss the game.

“He’s been out here every day,” receivers coach Mike Groh said Friday. “Been able to do everything we’ve asked him to do. He’s handled a lot. He’s had a lot of reps, so he’s been able to handle everything we’ve asked him to do.”
