The New York Giants’ challenging season added another chapter on Sunday following a 30-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers, the No. 6 overall pick in this year’s NFL draft, expressed his frustration after the game, both on the field and off it.
His mother, Tonya Nabers, chimed in on the matter with a concise, three-word post on X that quickly gained attention: “Standing on BUSINESS.”
The comment comes a day after her son voiced his displeasure with the team’s performance and effort. Nabers, who has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing season, failed to record a reception until the Giants were trailing 23-0 in the third quarter.

His frustration boiled over postgame, where he delivered a blunt critique of his team.
“I’m tired of going out there and losing,” Nabers said. “It’s just that.”
The rookie has been a standout player despite the Giants’ struggles, ranking seventh in the league with 67 catches for 671 yards and three touchdowns. However, the team’s 2-9 record has led to mounting frustration in the locker room.
#Giants HC Brian Daboll says he spoke to WR Malik Nabers. Wants to keep the conversation private but said, “He’s a very competitive individual. You want to get the ball in his hands and I’ve got to do a better job of getting the ball in his hands early.”

Giants head coach Brian Daboll addressed Nabers’ remarks during his postgame press conference, showing understanding of the young player’s competitive nature.
“He’s a very competitive individual,” Daboll said. “Again, you want to get the ball in his hands, and I’ve got to do a better job of getting the ball in his hands early. He’s a smart, young guy that’s very competitive. When you lose like that, it’s a very frustrating thing, but we’ve had good communication as we always have.”
Nabers’ postgame comments and his mother’s pointed message highlight the frustrations of a tough season for the Giants. With the team struggling to find its rhythm, the focus remains on whether they can turn things around and keep their young star engaged moving forward.
