Malik Willis Delivers Best Game as a Dolphin

Any Miami Dolphins fans who were worried about this team going winless can now breathe a sigh of relief. The Dolphins are finally in the win column in the 2026 season after a 28-25 win over the New York Jets on Sunday, and they couldn’t have done it without a huge bounce-back performance from starting quarterback Malik Willis.

After he laid an egg in a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals two weeks ago, throwing two interceptions for one touchdown and finishing with a QBR of just 51.0, he responded with the best game of his Dolphins career to date. He threw three touchdowns (two in the air, one on the ground) without throwing a single interception and completed a season-high 67 percent of his 21 passing attempts.

Willis also basically single-handedly sealed the win for the Dolphins with a well-executed quarterback sneak late in the fourth quarter. With the Dolphins on fourth-and-one and up by only three, Willis ran for a much-needed first down, and Miami was able to run out the clock from there.

It was really refreshing to see Willis and the Dolphins’ offense really clicking on all cylinders after the team struggled so mightily on that side of the ball to begin the season. Miami’s 28 points mark a new season high, and the hope is this game will build momentum for the offense going forward.

Whether Sunday’s win will prove a turning point in the Dolphins’ season remains to be seen, but a big test looms that could decide it. On Nov. 1, they’ll host another division rival in the New England Patriots, who have historically struggled to win at Hard Rock Stadium, even during the Tom Brady and Bill Belichick era.
