Mark Murphy comments on Davante Adams making the Packers Hall of Fame

Former Packers legend and current Raiders receiver Davante Adams had a fantastic career with the Green Bay Packers. Packers President and CEO acknowledged that in his press conference on Monday. "I (Murphy) have tremendous respect for Davante. Obviously he was a great player for us, and as fine a person as you'll ever see in the game. The way he handled this entire situation was really outstanding, and I am very confident that he will come back and he will be a member of our Hall of Fame." It is clear that there are no hard feelings between the Packers and Adams.

The California native in Adams had an amazing eight-year run in Green Bay. After being drafted in the second round out of Fresno State in 2014 by the Packers, Adams would go on to make five consecutive Pro Bowls (2017-2021) and earn two consecutive First-Team All-Pro nods (2020, 2021). He recorded three seasons of at least 1,300 receiving yards and two seasons where he recorded exactly 997 receiving yards. He had five seasons with double-digit touchdown catches. In Packers history, No. 17 ranks second in receptions (669), fourth in yards (8,121), third in average yards per game (70.0) and second in touchdown catches (73). Davante Adams is one of the great receivers of the last decade. He has the best release of any receiver in the game. His footwork is uncanny. His connection with quarterback Aaron Rodgers was the best in the league over the last four seasons (Rodgers and Adams are the most prolific QB-WR duo in Packers history with a record 69 touchdowns). It is very obvious that Adams created a Hall of Fame portfolio with the Packers in his eight seasons there.

Green Bay traded Adams to Las Vegas earlier this offseason after both parties decided to part ways. Adams will now be playing on his childhood team in the Raiders with his college quarterback in Derek Carr. The Packers will look to find new ways to get production from a receiving core that includes Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, Sammy Watkins, and rookie Christian Watson. The presence of Davante Adams will almost certainly be missed in Green Bay in 2022, though.
