Seven years ago today, Mark Sanchez was immortalized for his part in the infamous butt fumble heard ’round the world.
Sanchez, then a member of the New York Jets, bounced off the rear end of teammate Brandon Moore, which caused a fumble that the New England Patriots returned for a touchdown.

This memorable faux pas is one of the most embarrassing moments in modern American sports, to be sure. That being said, it is far from the only embarrassing fumble we’ve witnessed in recent memory.
So yeah, Sanchez certainly isn’t alone when it comes to embarrassing fumbles.
Still, the man himself doesn’t look back fondly on his butt-fumble incident, and that shouldn’t surprise anyone.
“Yeah. It sucked. I ran into some guy’s butt, dropped the ball on the turf and some guy scored. And on my favorite holiday. It wasn’t cool.”
