Throughout the course of the 2025 NFL season, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has been a major talking point. He has been discussing a contract extension with the team and talks have not been going very smoothly.
Despite the talks not being very productive at this point in time, the expectation is still that the two sides will work something out. However, there are some questioning whether or not Purdy is worth the kind of money he's looking to receive.
During the 2024 NFL season, Purdy had a major down year. He played in 15 games, completing 65.9% of his passes for 3,864 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He also picked up 323 yards and five more touchdowns on the ground.
With the questions swirling about just how good Purdy can truly become, one former NFL star has spoken out with a bold warning for the rest of the NFL.
Mark Schlereth spoke out about the 49ers' quarterback in a segment on "Breakfast Ball" on Friday morning. He made a very bold statement on the matter and predicted that Purdy will be a top-five NFL quarterback in 2025.
"Everyone wants to point to the fact that they have all these weapons... he proves it's a lot about Brock Purdy, and not as much about all the weapons around him," he said.

Purdy put up much bigger numbers in 2023, throwing for 4,280 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, while completing 69.4% of his passes.
Entering the 2025 NFL season, Purdy will not have Deebo Samuel on the roster. San Francisco traded the wide receiver to the Washington Commanders during the offseason.
That being said, he will have a healthy version of star running back Christian McCaffrey and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, along with George Kittle, Ricky Pearsall, and other targets to work with.
