We are three months into the offseason and the majority of questions have been answered. Free agency brought the Minnesota Vikings answers to the majority of their issues, especially in the trenches on both sides of the football.
They got talented players ready to go and start for a potential Super Bowl run this year. The other element to this entire conversation is the Vikings decided that head coach Kevin O'Connell would be the head coach for a long time, as he agreed to a contract extension.
We knew that O'Connell was likely to get a contract extension this offseason, it was also expected to have general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah extended as well. It hasn't happened yet, but Adofo-Mensah isn't worried and commented on it this past week.
"It's funny, with a player, somebody asked me, a player agent asked me that. These things don't come in straight lines. They kind of come with dribbs and drives, and then big discoveries, and then you're here, and then it's like building a house. A lot of the time takes, you know, the build a lot, you know, takes 90% of time to go out of it in the last 10% you know how that goes. So I can't tell you exactly where that is. I wish I could give you a simple, clean answer. I know that there's positive dialog happening with my representatives and theirs, and then meet with them as well. Again, it's probably on me that it's not going quicker, because, again, I wake up every morning focus on the things that I need to focus on to get this team to where they want to go, that mindset that it's my job to be the circuit leader for them, that doesn't change just because a contract maybe has a year left on it."
While the extension hasn't come yet, Vikings owner Mark Wilf isn't worried and it's something they want to get done.
Vikings owner Mark Wilf says "we've had very, very positive conversations" with GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah about a contract extension and "that's something we're going to continue to work towards this offseason." Asked if it's something he wants to get done, Wilf said: "Yes it is."

It's noteworthy and not surprising that the Vikings would want to get something done with Adofo-Mensah. It's not a surprise, especially due to his success in the Vikings being 34-17 in his first three seasons.
Wilf also commented about the potential shift in power structure, as it appeared that O'Connell was getting more power in the front office. That has been shut down.
"No. I think it'll work pretty much the way we've been doing it. And again, I can't think of even one time where we haven't been able to work through and develop a consensus, but I think the process and the decision-making tree that you guys sometimes focus on is not going to change."
That pretty much clears up everything that we had questions about regarding Adofo-Mensah's standing in the organization. The extension likely still gets done and it shouldn't be a major concern moving forward.
Breathe easy, Vikings fans.
