Veteran wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling is moving from one AFC contender to another.

Valdez-Scantling signed a one-year contract with the Buffalo Bills, the team announced Tuesday . The veteran receiver joins Buffalo after two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Bills need wide receiver depth, so Valdes-Scantling is an ideal fit for them at this point in the offseason. The 29-year-old tallied 63 catches for 1,002 yards and three touchdowns over his two seasons with the Chiefs, not including his touchdown reception in Super Bowl LVIII against San Francisco. Presumably, he has a decent chance to carve out a solid role in the Buffalo offense.

Another team was known to have interest in Valdes-Scantling, but the Bills are likely closer to contention right now. They also have plenty of opportunities for a player like Valdes-Scantling to make a major contribution.
