Super Bowl LX on February 8 features the Patriots and Seahawks. The week also includes Oakley Meta’s first Super Bowl commercials and a YouTube-hosted celebrity flag football game the night before.

Marshawn Lynch and Spike Lee are in the Oakley Meta ads

Oakley Meta is running two commercials during the Super Bowl broadcast. The campaign is called “Athletic Intelligence Is Here” and showcases the Oakley Meta Glasses. The ads feature Marshawn Lynch, Spike Lee, YouTube creator iShowSpeed, PGA Tour player Akshay Bhatia, and Olympians Sky Brown, Kate Courtney, and Sunny Choi.

Lynch recently used the glasses to photograph the Chiefs-Chargers game in Brazil. His take: “These Oakley Meta Vanguard glasses are hella smooth. The camera lets me make moves and stay connected; when I see it, I snap it! No more phone fumbling and missing the moment.”

YouTube is streaming a celebrity flag football game on Feb 7

YouTube and the NFL are hosting a flag football game the night before the Super Bowl. The event streams live from San Francisco at 10 p.m. ET on February 7. Druski and J. Balvin are the team captains. The roster includes musician Kane Brown and content creator Benson Boone. The game puts digital creators alongside athletes and celebrities in a Super Bowl week event.

Super Bowl commercials now feature YouTubers and smart glasses

Oakley Meta’s campaign includes iShowSpeed, a YouTube creator with millions of followers. The product being advertised is smart glasses with built-in cameras. The celebrity flag football game is streaming on YouTube rather than traditional television. Both reflect how Super Bowl week programming has expanded beyond the broadcast itself. The game is still the main event. The surrounding content now targets audiences who consume entertainment differently than previous generations.
