Former Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule has one serious regret about his tenure in Charlotte.
In an interview with NFL Network's Peter Schrager, Rhule says that, if he could do it over again, he probably would've taken a different opportunity in the 2020 hiring cycle.

"[Carolina is] a great place, wonderful people, but I don't know if I was a fit there," Rhule shared in the interview.
Rhule says in the interview that he felt the front office's roster-building timeline speed up from when he was hired to getting into the thick of the job.
"I'm not angry about it," Rhule added. "At the end of the day, I understand."
Rhule shared that he feels the Panthers could be set up for years to come as built with more moves.
However, he also said he feels he was responsible for helping them get there and could have continued that momentum if he was retained.
"I'm part of that building process," Rhule said.
Rhule is officially done with the NFL for now, signing a massive deal to join Nebraska as its next head coach.
He made his name at the collegiate level, earning attention for his work at Temple and for rebuilding Baylor's football program in wake of the Art Briles scandal.
Rhule went 11-27 in roughly two-and-a-half seasons with the Panthers, a stretch where Carolina faltered in finding a quarterback to replace Cam Newton.
The team built a stout defense under Rhule, but the offense sputtered. Longtime Carolina running back Christian McCaffrey was traded to the San Francisco 49ers after Rhule's departure.
Steve Wilks took over for Rhule as the team's interim coach and could be a candidate for the permanent job.
