Matt Ryan Fires Back At Reported Interest In Joining Jets
Jenna Watson/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK

The New York Jets season is quickly slipping away. After pulling off a stunning upset over the Buffalo Bills in Week 1 after Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury, things have gone downward for New York.

The team turned to Zach Wilson as their starter as he was the only other quarterback on their 53-man roster. Despite plenty of evidence showing that he wasn’t capable of leading this team, he has remained under center.

The results were as disastrous as you would expect. The Jets have gone 0-2 in the two games Wilson has started and his performance has been underwhelming. Poor offensive line production has certainly attributed to his struggles, but Wilson does not look like a replacement level quarterback, let alone a starter.

In his starts, he has completed 47.6 percent of his passes for 327 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. His processing of the defense has been abysmal as he holds onto the ball too long and doesn’t let it rip on time.

A season that was full of promise and Super Bowl optimism two weeks ago is already spiraling down the drain. The Jets need to make a move at quarterback to save their season before it is too late.

But, one player you can count out as a potential option is veteran Matt Ryan. Ryan spent the 2022 season with the Indianapolis Colts but was released this offseason after a poor campaign. He has been working as an analyst with CBS Sports and for now, intends to remain in that spot as he has no interest in playing for the Jets.

Ryan is enjoying his time as an analyst and praised the work of his agent Todd Francis, who has done his due diligence. The Jets are going to have to look elsewhere for quarterback help as the former MVP isn’t walking through those doors any time soon.

The talk of moving on from Wilson could reach deafening levels as the Jets are set to host Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4. Dropping to 1-3 ahead of a trip to face the Denver Broncos before hosting the Philadelphia Eagles ahead of their bye week would be disastrous for New York.
