Matt Ryan officially has a new job with the Atlanta Falcons, meaning he is leaving his old one behind.
Ryan accepted the Falcons’ president of football role on Saturday and will be in charge of the team’s football operations going forward. As such, he confirmed he will be leaving CBS after Sunday’s “The NFL Today.”
Ryan said he loved his time at CBS and thanked the network for allowing him to pursue the Atlanta job.

Ryan will lead the hiring process for the Falcons’ new general manager as part of his new role. He has no experience in this sort of thing, but the organization is trusting him to turn things around for a team that has not had a great deal of on-field success since he was still playing quarterback for them.
Initial reports had suggested that Ryan was interested in remaining on CBS while still fulfilling his Falcons duties. That obviously proved untenable, and he had to choose one way or the other. The opportunity in Atlanta was simply too good for him to pass up.
