Matt Ryan not thinking about Super Bowl loss to Tom Brady ahead of Falcons-Buccaneers game

To this day, football fans and (maybe) even Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady troll the Atlanta Falcons about how Atlanta held a 28-3 lead over Brady and the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI but ultimately lost that title game 34-28.

According to Michael Rothstein of ESPN, Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan, who famously fell to Brady in that Super Bowl, joked ahead of Sunday's matchup at Tampa Bay he "never heard of" any "28-3" references but added that he and his current teammates need to focus on the task at hand without looking back at what could have been.

"Of course we want to win. It's not going to make up for that," Ryan explained Wednesday. "You know, it's one of those things. It's part of your past, it's part of what happened.

"But it's got no bearing on this week."

Ryan is correct in that the Falcons have plenty to worry about as it pertains to the current season. Atlanta suffered a blowout 32-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at home this past Sunday and didn't score a single offensive touchdown in that crushing defeat.

Meanwhile, the reigning Super Bowl champion Buccaneers opened their campaign with a thrilling 31-29 victory over the Dallas Cowboys last Thursday night.
