Matt Ryan reveals more information about joining CBS

Free-agent quarterback Matt Ryan offered more information about why he joined CBS Sports as an NFL analyst this offseason.

"The opportunity that CBS has given me to do a little bit of everything, to me, it seemed like too good of an opportunity to pass up," Ryan explained during an appearance on the "Take Command" podcast, according to Sam Neumann of Awful Announcing.

Per the Paramount Press Express website, Ryan will serve as an in-game and studio analyst with CBS. He's scheduled to appear on shows such as "The NFL Today" when not helping call the action on Sunday afternoons.

"It gives me a chance to find out number one, what I’m OK at, what I’m decent at," Ryan continued. "And number two, what I’m interested in… Whether that be being in the studio or calling games. The unique setup of the opportunity intrigued me."

Ryan revealed during a different conversation he wanted to continue working but also insisted he isn't retiring as an active player. Individuals such as ESPN's Stephen Holder pointed out Ryan could risk losing the $12M he's owed by the Indianapolis Colts for 2023 if the 38-year-old suggested he wasn't open to joining a different team.

To his credit, Ryan made it known earlier this week he'd play this fall if presented with the right situation. For now, he's focusing on spreading his wings inside broadcast booths and television studios.

"The ability to do both this first year and really get a feel for what makes sense long-term, I feel lucky… I feel a bit like a kid going to college where I have no idea what my major is going to be but I get to take a bunch of those courses and begin to figure out what I like and go from there," he said.

At the risk of endangering Ryan's money, he sounds committed to fully embracing his next career as other players prepare for summer training camp sessions.
