Matthew Golden already excels in one key area, but he's working to take it to the next level as he prepares to shine in Green Bay

Take a look at any Matthew Golden scouting profile from the pre-draft process and you'll see that a consensus opinion about his game is how polished and fluid he is with his route running. That was one of the major factors to make him a first-round prospect—the Green Bay Packers took him with the 23rd overall pick. Even quarterback Jordan Love took note of that.

"He's been looking good," Love said in June. "I think from the get go, from Day 1 when he got here, he's showcased just the versatility he has running routes, the speed he has, and his ability to catch."

But Golden is not satisfied with what he did at Houston and Texas. Even if the players are enjoying a vacation period between the offseason program and training camp, the rookie is working with trainer Justin Allen to stay in shape. And at the same time, it's clear how much the fluidity out of his breaks is a priority.

This is what The Athletic's draft analyst Dane Brugler said about Golden before the draft.

"Fluid in and out of his breaks, Golden shows a plan as a route runner — I love his ability to break down corners by keeping his eyes, hips and feet in sync. That coordination also translates to the catch point with his very natural ball skills to track, frame and finish." — Dane Brugler.

A to Z Sports' draft analyst Ian Valentino also highlighted Golden's route-running ability.

"A disciplined route runner who shows off a great combination of speed, attention to detail, footwork and coordination, Matthew Golden has the profile of a very good starter with a high floor and ceiling." — Ian Valentino.

Matthew Golden is showing he can be an impactful wide receiver for the Packers from the jump. And he's working hard during the offseason to show that starting in training camp three weeks from now.
