Green Bay Packers rookie Matthew Golden had a tough Week 2 outing on Thursday.
He showed incredible speed to find open spots downfield, and even nearly hauled in not one but two huge catches, but he ended up having zero catches on a couple of targets in a Thursday Night Football matchup at Lambeau Field against the visiting Washington Commanders.
Selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft, Golden had a catch in the end zone broken up by Washington’s secondary. In a different play, he beat two Commanders defenders for what would have been a breakaway touchdown but Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love’s pass just didn’t land in the bucket.
Golden, who had two rushing attempts for 15 yards versus Washington, only has two catches for 16 receiving yards through two games in 2025.
Despite having zero catches against the Commanders, Golden gets lots of supportive messages from fans after he shared a post a social media post on X, which shows him rushing the ball in that game. He captioned it with “2-0” to go with a cheese emoji.
