Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams couldn’t get it done in the NFC Championship Game, falling to Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks 31-27. With the loss, the Rams missed out on a spot in Super Bowl LX, as their 2025 NFL season ended just short of a trip to Santa Clara, California.
Still, Stafford had arguably the best season of his 17-year NFL career in 2025. The former Detroit Lions quarterback, at the age of 37, completed 388-of-597 passes for 4,707 yards, a career-high 46 touchdowns and eight interceptions during the regular season, becoming one of the favorites to win the NFL MVP award.
While the official winner of the NFL MVP award won't be unveiled until the NFL Honors on Thursday, former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady had some awards of his own to give out, calling them the "LFG Awards."
And sure enough, Brady, who has three MVPs and seven Super Bowl wins of his own, selected Stafford as his LFG Player of the Year.
"LFG Player of the Year in my mind is Matthew Stafford," Brady said. "I covered him a bunch this year. I was so impressed by what he did throughout the entire season. I think his consistency was incredible. He showed up in the biggest moments for his teammates. He made throws that so few guys in the NFL can make.
"He did it in tough conditions, and look, they play in a dome out there at SoFi all the time. But he went on the road, they were great on the road. They were great and when he had his main guys go down a few times. Puka (Nacua) was down. Davante (Adams) was down. And he always found ways to produce an incredible touchdown-interception ratio. He was absurd."

Stafford wasn't the only Rams star to win one of Brady's LFG Awards . Wide receiver Puka Nacua also earned himself the Offensive Player of the Year honor, joining Seattle Seahawks wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba. And Los Angeles safety Quentin Lake also won the 6th Round Pick of the Year.
