The only way to describe Maxx Crosby’s NFL career so far would be as an odyssey.
Drafted in the final year of the team in Oakland, Maxx Crosby has been a staple of the Las Vegas Raiders since 2019. Unfortunately, his loyalty to the franchise has not been rewarded with success.
Crosby has only appeared in the playoffs once in his six-year career, and new head coach Pete Carroll will be his fifth in the league. The lack of stability and success on the field has lead to serious questions regarding the future of the star pass rusher.
With Carroll and new general manager John Spytek as the new regime in Las Vegas, the hope is that Crosby is willing to place his faith in this being the group that gets the Raiders out of their organizational malaise.
Being in New Orleans as the NFL world descended onto the city for the Super Bowl, Crosby spoke on the surprising uplift the Raiders have received with the two new faces in charge.
“He’s very straightforward with his approach,” Crosby said on ESPN Radio. “You know, we talk about competing, energy, they literally have JBL speakers up there, and It sounds like a nightclub up there. That’s a little bit different, but I love that, though. That’s who I am.”
Sure, it is fair to assume that Crosby is doing his part to hype up the Raiders in the Pete Carroll era, but the history of Carroll and Spytek give fans back in Las Vegas plenty to be excited about.
Carroll is one of three head coaches to win a national championship and a Super Bowl (Jimmy Johnson, Barry Switzer), while Spytek has won two Super Bowls with different organizations (Denver Broncos, Tampa Bay Buccaneers).
The goal for Crosby is that success will come with Carroll and Spytek now in charge. Hopefully, those dreams come closer to fruition this season.
